About

I am a specialist and consultant in Intellectual Property Law, with a specific interest in the Law of Geographical Indications; Trade Mark Law; WTO Law and IP&Sustainable Development.

I am Lecturer in Intellectual Property Law at the University of Sheffield (U.K.). Until July 2022 I cooperated with Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition (Munich, Germany), where I led the Research Team on Geographical Indications, first as Senior Research Fellow and, later, as Affiliated Research Fellow

I completed a PhD/Dphil at the University of Oxford and I hold an LLM from the University College London. I graduated from the University of Milan.

I regularly advise public and private stakeholders predominantly on issues related to geographical branding. Among the others, I have worked for the EU Commission (DG GROW) as legal advisor for the ‘Study on Control and Enforcement Rules for Geographical Indication protection for nonagricultural products in the EU’ (EU Commission, 2021).

My research is award winning and I am regularly invited to appear in international conferences and IP-related events. In particular, I am the author of the book ‘The Transformation of EU Geographical Indications Law: the present, past and future of the origin link’ (Routledge 2021).

I sit in the Scientific Committee of various leading associations and institutions such as ECTA and AREPO and in the Editorial Board of the Journal of Law, Media and Innovation.

In my spare time, I enjoy music and chess.
