Today, 13 April 2022, the EU Commission has published the Proposal for a Regulation on Geographical Indications for Craft and Industrial Products.
I believe this is great news. I have advocated for this reform of EU GI Law in conferences organised by the EU Commission and in my books and articles.
Moreover, from January to August 2021 I worked as legal consultant for the drafting of the "Study of control and enforcement rules for GI protection for non-agricultural products in the EU".
Today, that challenging work is quoted as one of the sources upon which the EU Commission has relied to prepare the Draft Regulation.
I am happy that this extensive work has finally proven impactful.
